Tennis world number one, Jannik Sinner, has allayed concerns about his hip injury, expressing optimism ahead of his campaign at the 2024 Cincinnati Open on Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

Sinner made this statement following his physical struggles during his quarter-final loss at the ongoing Canadian ATP Masters 1000 event in Montreal.

However, the Italian, as reported by ATP Tour, quelled any fears fans had during his press conference ahead of the Cincinnati Open, where he is the top seed.

“I feel quite good. Obviously, I had nearly a week without practicing before and then, after playing for two or three days in a row, a bit more than usual, that could have had a potential impact on the hip,” Sinner said.

“But I’m not afraid. I feel good with the hip, and I’m just looking forward to getting back on court here.”

Sinner won his first major title at the Australian Open before climbing to No. 1 in the ATP Rankings for the first time in June. However, he missed one of his main goals for the season by not participating in the Paris 2024 Olympics due to a diagnosis of tonsillitis.

“This year I felt like I was playing well, also in Paris, at Roland Garros, and knowing that the Olympics were there, I felt I could perform well on that court and give myself a chance for medals,” Sinner said.

“But sometimes you have to accept it. Obviously, it goes through your mind that you missed this opportunity because you wanted to prepare for it. But it’s all part of the sport, and I also have to be happy with what I have, not always focusing on the negatives.

“I believe that my season is going very positively, and we just keep building on that.”
