Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has inaugurated the six new commissioners whose appointments were confirmed by the state House of Assembly.

The new commissioners are Professor Ogbonnaya Uche, Mr David Kalu, Kingsley Chibueze Nwokocha, Dr Uwaoma Ukandu, Dr Queen Ijeoma Aghukwa and Ubochi Goodluck Chinedu.

Addressing the new appointees, Otti said they were chosen on merit and not through the traditional recruitment pattern of filling strategic government offices with cronies who do very little in terms of execution of the business of governance.

He promised to intensify efforts geared towards making life comfortable for Abia people and assured the new commissioner of his support.

The Abia Governor, who warned the new appointees to avoid infighting among their colleagues, also made it clear that his administration had zero tolerance for corrupt practices.

He further disclosed that a dynamic restructuring would be carried out in the ministries to rejig their operations.

DAILY POST recalls that three former commissioners resigned their appointments from the cabinet.
