Nigerian activist lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, has warned that Nigeria is heading for the rocks because citizens are finding it difficult to feed and survive.

Adeyanju said the Nigerian government should be happy with the series of protests being declared due to the hardship citizens are facing.

Speaking with Al-Jazeera, the frontline activist argued Nigerians leaders to take a cue from their Bangladesh counterparts.

According to Adeyanju: “This country is heading for the rocks, because something eventually must give.

“A situation where people can no longer feed, barely survive then protest become inevitable.

“We have seen what happened in Bangladesh where the people where pushed to the brinks and in such a situation, the people had no other choice than to bounce back.

“The government is still very lucky and fortunate that protest was announced and a date, venue were given, but unfortunate for the government, the do not know it yet.

“The politicians think they are immune from the suffering in the country. Someone gave a brilliant analogy which I will like to re-echo that when the Titanic was sinking, people in the upper deck didn’t know what those below were facing.

“The people in the economy already knew what was going on that the ship was sinking and they were already choking from the pressure of the water.”
