On the second day of the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests tagged ’10 Days of Rage’ in Rivers State, the protesters on Friday said President Bola Tinubu is the ‘father of protests’ in Nigeria.
The aggrieved Nigerians blocked the main entrance into the Federal Secretariat, located along Aba Road in Port Harcourt.
Recall that the protesters, numbering over 2,000 had on the first day of the protests on Thursday laid a brief siege at the federal secretariat entrance before moving to Government House, Port Harcourt, where they were addressed by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The situation caused a huge traffic gridlock along the ever-busy Port Harcourt-Aba road, forcing motorists to use alternative routes.
Our Correspondent observed that the State’s Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, and his entourage, comprising of over eight patrol vans and an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), later came to pacify the protesters to leave the major roads.
However, speaking with LEADERSHIP, some of the protesters accused President Tinubu of being the major sponsor and beneficiary of protests in the country.
They wondered why the President would be calling on Nigerians not to participate in a peaceful protest aimed at addressing the country’s challenges.
