Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti defeated Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 to win the bronze medal in the Paris 2024 Men’s Tennis Singles event on Saturday, August 4.
According to ATP Tour reports, the 22-year-old Musetti who lost to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals, bounced back to secure the hard-earned victory in the third-place final, becoming the first Italian tennis player to win an Olympic medal since Uberto de Morpugo at the 1924 tournament.

Musetti won the first set 6-1 but was on the brink of losing the medal after dropping the second set 1-6. He regained his composure to triumph by winning the third set 6-3.
He was less clinical than Auger-Aliassime with his chances, converting three of 12 break points, while the Canadian won three of four. However, Musetti remained mentally composed to pull ahead in the final stages of the match.
With his two-hour, 17-minute win, Musetti leveled his Lexus ATP Head2Head series against Auger-Aliassime at 3-3.
The No. 16 player in the ATP Rankings, Musetti has won 22 of 28 matches since the start of Roland Garros in late May. This tally includes runs to the championship match at ATP Tour events at Queen’s Club and in Umag, and he also reached his maiden Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon last month.
