Former Nigeria’s track and field athlete Annette Echikunwoke threw a season-best of 75.48 meters to clinch the silver medal in the hammer throw for Team USA on Tuesday in Paris.
The athlete settled for silver after her third throw was overtaken by Canada’s Camryn Rogers, who threw 76.97 meters for the gold.

Echikunwoke’s victory marked her as the first women’s hammer throw medal winner for the United States.
Recall that Echikunwoke switched her allegiance to the US after a mix-up with the Athletic Federation of Nigeria that denied her the opportunity to compete for her Nigeria in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
