Following near suspension of protests in Kano, the State Government has reduced the curfew imposed on the state from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

The state government had, in the wake of violence that followed the protests, declared a dusk to dawn curfew in Kano.

However, as the protest entered its sixth day on Tuesday, many parts of the state did not record protests.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Salma Dogo, announced the reduction of the curfew hours on Tuesday after the State Security Council meeting presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at Government House, Kano.

He said, “The adjustment of the curfew hours was because normalcy has largely been restored across the entire city.

“Governor Yusuf agreed to the reduction of the dusk to dawn curfew after intensive deliberations with members of the State Security Council.

“The governor urged residents to cooperate with security personnel deployed in and outside the metropolis as peace gradually restored in the state.”

The CP explained that the security agents would be visible in the metropolis to ensure law and order.

“Governor Yusuf further urged the residents in the state to return to their various homes by 6 p.m., assuring them that the curfew would be reviewed as the security situation improves gradually,” the CP added.
