The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has enjoined other organisations, private individuals and groups to emulate the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its support of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

The union made the call in a statement signed by NANS Senate President, Babatunde Akinteye and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

DAILY POST gathered that the EFCC had earlier donated the sum of N50 billion to support the government initiative aimed at helping students fund their education.

NAN in its reaction to EFCC’s gesture, called on other government agencies, private organizations and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate EFCC by contributing to the NELT

Akinteye in the statement, noted that many students face significant financial barriers that prevent them from achieving their academic aspirations.

He however noted that the donation by the EFCC to the NELF will provide a much-needed lifeline for many indigent students to complete their education.

“I wish to express my profound gratitude to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for their generous donation of N50 billion to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

“This remarkable gesture is not only a reflection of the EFCC’s dedication to combating financial crimes but also a demonstration of their commitment to the future of Nigerian students, who are the leaders of tomorrow. In a country where the cost of education continues to rise, many students face significant financial barriers that prevent them from achieving their academic aspirations.

“The introduction and bolstering of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund through this substantial donation will provide a much-needed lifeline for countless students across the nation. This initiative will enable them to access the education they rightfully deserve, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society.

“Furthermore, this loan fund will greatly assist parents who, despite their best efforts, struggle to afford the rising costs of education. For many families, the burden of educational expenses can be overwhelming, leading to difficult decisions about which child can continue their studies. The availability of this student loan will ease this burden, ensuring that every child has an equal opportunity to pursue their dreams and reach their full potential.

“I am using this medium to call on other government agencies, private organizations, and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the EFCC’s example by contributing to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund. Together, we can ensure that no Nigerian student is left behind due to financial difficulties”.
