Scratch that. The Premier League is a much more exciting league than what was witnessed in Friday’s opening fixture at Old Trafford.

For almost 88 minutes, it felt the new campaign would open with a drab, goalless affair, until new boy Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench to stroke home the winner.
Maresca arrived after winning the Championship title with the Foxes, who hit 97 points.

“They have quality. But I don’t think Maresca’s side will start germinating immediately.

“I saw Chelsea’s pre-season games and even though we could see how they intend to play, they are far from ready, especially the defensive structure.

“I’m tipping them for a top five finish on quality and if they get Osimhen, it’s a huge upgrade on Jackson.”

At the bottom of the table, Adava does not expect Everton to survive relegation this time around.

Sean Dyche’s men have escaped the drop by the skin of their teeth in two consecutive seasons.

“If Everton aren’t careful, they won’t survive. Ownership instability and possible point deduction for Premier League breach incoming.

“And I’m not seeing enough quality players in their summer windows.

“I think Ipswich, Everton and Nottingham Forest will be relegated,” Adava adds.

Manchester United have served fans a subpar opening game. But you can never bet against the Premier League.

From this Saturday, the other teams are ready to serve fans with intensity, passion, skills and shock results.

Strap in. It will be a long nine months.
