Team Nigeria’s sprinter, Favour Ofili, has described her performance in the Paris 2024 Olympic Women’s 200m final as a herculean task, admitting she gave her best but expressing disappointment over her sixth position feat, Completesports.com reports.
The sprinter, who ran in lane 9, ended up in 6th place with a time of 22.24 seconds, which was not good enough for a podium finish.

The final was won by the USA’s Gabby Thomas, who took the gold medal with a time of 21.83 seconds. She was followed by Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia, who finished in 22.08 seconds. USA’s Brittany Brown emerged third best with a time of 22.20 seconds.
Prior to her campaign in the 200m, Ofili was upset over her exclusion from the 100m race, blaming the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) for an oversight.
In a post on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) after her loss, Ofili surrendered her fate to divinity, noting she managed to gain mental stamina despite the pain from missing the 100m competition.
“God’s will, not mine. It’s been a hard journey. I tried to be mentally prepared despite the shocking news I received a few days ago. I gave it my all from Lane 9,” Ofili admitted.
“If it were easy, everyone would be doing it. Thank you, Coach Shaver. Having you around made everything a lot easier for me. 200m finalist, finished 6th overall. Next (on God).”
