Amid the hunger protest in Nigeria, traditional rulers in Kano State and other parts of the country have been urged to foster peace within their domains.

The Kano Progressive Movement, KPM, made the call on Wednesday while reacting to the #EndBadGovernance protests that recently turned violent in the state.

The group, in a statement issued by its convener, Alhaji Lawal Mohammed, urged the former Emir of Kano, Emir Aminu Ado-Bayero and other traditional leaders to continue to maintain peace in the state.

DAILY POST recalls that the 15th Emir of Kano had, after meeting with angry youths protesting against the high cost of living in the country, expressed readiness to convey their demands to President Bola Tinubu.

Reacting, the group revealed that traditional leaders in the country have important roles to play in the ongoing nationwide protests.

They also called on the protesters to embrace dialogue as means of registering their grievances rather than violent protests.

“We call on all Nigerians to work together to build a more peaceful and prosperous society. We must eschew violence and embrace dialogue and constructive engagement as the means of resolving our differences.

“We believe that together, we can build a brighter future for ourselves and for generations to come, ” the statement added.
