City have announced Steve Cooper as their new manager, following the breakdown of talks with Graham Potter.

Cooper has signed a three-year contract with the , which recently secured promotion back to the Premier League.

Cooper, formerly the manager of , will take charge for the first time against Tottenham on August 19.

Despite being sacked by Forest last December, the 44-year-old is set for his new role.

In an open letter to fans, Cooper: “I am very proud to be joining a club with a rich history. I want to thank Khun Top for the opportunity to manage Leicester City.

“I recognise I am joining a group of people who this Club and want the very best for it.”

He acknowledged Leicester's recent successes, including their 2016 Premier League title and 2021 win, and emphasized his commitment to building on those achievements:

“As the new manager, I don't take that legacy lightly. My will be to build on those achievements and to bring everyone along – players, staff, and fans.”

Leicester has been seeking a new manager since left for .

While initial talks with Graham Potter fell through, and compensation issues hindered a move for West Brom's Carlos Corberan, the club decided to turn to Cooper.
