Nigeria’s hope of landing a medal at the ongoing Paris Olympics continues after Blessing Oborududu lost in the bronze medal bout in women’s wrestling on Tuesday night.
Fighting in the 68kg event, Oborududu lost 3-0 (Victory on Points) to Japan’s Nonoka Ozaki.
Oborududu could not reenact her feat in Tokyo 2020 when she won silver for Nigeria.
It was another heartbreak for Team Nigeria in the women’s 200 metres as Favour Ofili failed to make a podium finish.
Running in lane nine, Ofili finished sixth in a time of 22.24 seconds.
Gabrielle Thomas of the United States won the gold medal (21.83), the silver medal went to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred, who won the women’s 100m final, in 22.08, while USA’s Brittany Brown got the bronze.
