Nigeria’s Favour Ofili is through to the semi-finals of the women’s 200m at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games.
Ofili, who could not compete in the women’s 100m due to administrative lapses won heat 6 in a time of 22.23s.
The 21-year-old defeated Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith who finished second in 22.28s and Gambia’s Gina Bass-Bittaye third in 22.84s.

Only USA’s Gabby Thomas (22.20s) ran faster than Ofili in the six heats.
Another Nigerian Sade Olatoye competed in Group B of women’s Hammer Throw, finishing 14th with a mark of 66.41m.
It was Olatoye’s maiden appearance at the Olympics.
