A group of sports journalists heading to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, to cover an African Nations Cup qualifier match between the Super Eagles and Libya were abducted by gunmen while travelling through Anambra State.
Sources revealed that around 11 journalists were in a bus passing through Iseke, near the Ihiala area of Anambra, when the attack occurred on Wednesday.
A source told Daily Post Thursday morning that nine journalists have been successfully rescued, though one is feared dead and four continue to be held.
