Over 250 kid between the age of 11 – 17 years participated in the 10th edition of Uma-Okoro foundation basketball camp at the Ilupeju basketball court in Lagos from 30th to 31st, 2024.

The camp which was open to both boys and girls offered a unique experience that went beyond basketball, as the 2024 edition came with fresh innovation.

The convener, Ukoha Michael Uma-Okoro added that While basketball remained a core element, It is always the best time to continue the unification of the people and emphasizing the value of empathy, love, hard work and competition.

The former basketball player, who is now a sport coach, mentor and a teacher in the UK added, the camp goes beyond physical health as a programme to guide alternative career paths was also lined up for the participating children and fostering an innovative mindset.

The participants received free basketball kits, shoes, medals, certificates, trophy, price money and both local and international coaches were on ground to work with the kids.

The foundation’s community outreach programme this year also had children in the Amuwo Odofin benefitting from food items, cloths, shoes, books and chocolates.

The initiative holds a special significance to the Former Nigerian International,Ukoha Michael Uma-Okoro, who had it quite rough growing up in Lagos before finding his way to Europe.
