The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State on Saturday, August 10, elected members of the state executive committee for a four-year tenure.
Each of the 31 LGAs in the state has a total of 18 chapter officers including a representative of Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs).
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party said it also elected one National Delegate for each LGA, with the governor, Pastor Umo Eno, among those elected.
The statement revealed that the governor in his goodwill message sent to all the LGAs, and delivered by elders and stakeholders of the party in the various domains, commended members for their peaceful disposition and unity in the conduct of the congress and charged the newly elected officers to work assiduously to steady the party on the path of successive electoral conquest in the state.
The statement also noted that the chairman of the party in Akwa Ibom, Elder Aniekan Akpan, while addressing stakeholders and returning officers before their departure to the various LGAs, reminded them of the need to elect officers who are ready to make the required sacrifices of stewardship that will draw more faithful and supporters to the PDP in the state.
He said, “In this state, our party, the PDP is privileged to stay as the most loved, and preferred political party for Akwa Ibom people.
