Ibadan, Oyo state – The Oyo state police command has dispelled reports claiming that Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, ordered herders involved in kidnapping and robbery in the southwest to vacate some parts of Oyo state immediately.
The reports had claimed that Igbo issued the eviction ultimatum in an audio recording on Tuesday, July 16, through his spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki.

The police in Oyo state have debunked the reports alleging that Sunday Igboho issued a fesh quit notice to herders.

However, a statement signed by the spokesman of the Oyo state police command, Adewale Osifeso, noted that there is no truth in the voice note circulated on social media.
According to the statement, the command noted that the story about the purported eviction of herders is misleading and a complete fabrication.
The release added:
“The viral video which surfaced during the early hours of Tuesday, 16/07/2024 was specifically designed by agents of mischief to disrupt the relative peaceful ambience enjoyed in the State by inciting violence and civil disturbances”.
The statement cited by Africa Check stated that “no notice of eviction was pronounced by any individual or group on anyone at any period in time.”
Furthermore, the statement, which was also cited by Channels TV, said the Commissioner of Police had tasked the supervising Area Commander in charge with personally leading confidence-building patrols and increasing the visibility of personnel around the jurisdiction.

Herdsmen attack Amotekun operatives
In a related development, Henzodaily.ng reported that herdsmen injured several individuals, including members of the Ondo state Security Network in Akure North local government area.
The incident occurred as personnel from the Amotekun were enforcing the anti-open grazing law at Igoba, along Ado Road.
