The Super Eagles team and staff were boarding the aircraft to depart Libya for Nigeria, more than 14 hours after they were stranded in the north African country.
LEADERSHIP recalls that the Nigerian team had earlier been stranded after Libyan authorities allegedly refused to grant permission for their charter flight to refuel and return to Nigeria.
Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa confirmed the development on her X (formerly Twitter) handle.
“Super Eagles team now boarding. Journey mercies to all of them,” Dabiri-Erewa wrote.
