Nigeria’s mixed 4×400 relay team has failed to qualify to the final at the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the athletics event.

The Nigerian side competed on lane 5 in the second semi-finals heat, where the quartet of Samuel Ogazi, Patience Okon-George, and Omolara Ogunmakinju finished fourth with a new national record time of 3:11.99.

The Netherlands and Italy took second and third places, respectively, with times of 3:10.81 and 3:11.59.

In the first semi-finals heat, the United States broke their own world record in the 4×400 mixed relay on Friday, crossing the line in 3min 07.41seconds.

The quartet of Vernon Norwood, Shamier Little, Bryce Deadmon, and Kaylyn Brown smashed the previous best of 3:08.80 set when the US won world gold in Budapest last year.
