The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter, has expressed grief over the demise of one of its veterans, Jacob Zango.
DAILY POST recalls that Jacob Zango passed away in Kaduna on Wednesday after a brief illness.
This was expressed in a statement signed by SWAN Kaduna Secretary, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, and made available on Friday in Kaduna.
According to the statement, Kaduna SWAN Chairman, Shehu Abdullahi, said he was personally shocked by Zango’s passing when the news broke on Wednesday.
“On behalf of all our members and SWAN President, Isaiah Kemje Benjamin, who is also from our state, we express our sadness following the demise of one of our veterans.
“While I was a staff of Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), where he worked until the unfortunate event, we were not just close, but like brothers,” the statement quoted the Kaduna SWAN Chairman.
It added that Zango passed on at a time when his wealth of experience is greatly needed in SWAN.
SWAN extended condolences to his immediate family, KSMC, the Atyap community, the Kaduna State Government, as well as all the friends and professional colleagues he left behind.
“We pray that the Almighty God grants his gentle soul eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
