United States Vice President and the Democratic presidential candidate, Kamala Harris, has visited her alma mater, Howard University, to offer inspiring words to incoming freshmen and their families.

Standing outside Cramton Auditorium, Harris emphasised the significance of the moment in their lives, drawing from her own experiences at the institution.

“I had freshmen orientation right here in Cramton where I met lifelong friends. You all are standing next to people who are going to be in your wedding,” Harris, a proud alumna, shared with the new students.

The visit coincided with Bison Week, a special period when the campus is closed to upperclassmen, dedicating the space to welcoming and orienting the new class of leaders.

Harris also took to Facebook page on Saturday to express her enduring connection to Howard University, sharing photos and a heartfelt message. “Howard University helped shape everything I am today. It was wonderful to be back on campus this week and say hello to the incoming students who will be leaders of our nation and world,” she wrote.

Howard University, founded on March 2, 1867, is a private, historically black, federally chartered research university in Washington, D.C. Accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the university is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity.”
