The Rivers State Police Command has distanced itself and its operatives from the planned Saturday, October 5 local government elections in the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The statement said the action followed a judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which barred the Police from participating or providing security during the election.
