A group under the aegis of the Ebonyi Central Youth Forum has described the one year in office of Senator Ken Eze, who represents the Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, as an abysmal failure.

The group criticized the Senator’s performance over the past year, stating it was unimpressive and lacked the necessary enthusiasm and genuine service to the people of the zone.

Led by Hon. Clinton Igwe, the group claimed that the people of Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone have yet to feel the significant impact of his representation at the National Assembly. They added that his high-handedness, pride, and overbearing nature have caused further hardship and economic deprivation for the people.

Hon. Igwe, speaking to journalists shortly after the Constituency Briefing by the lawmaker at Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, noted that the people would not tolerate the imposition of ungrateful politicians on the party again.

He added that while others are benefiting from their representatives’ goodwill, the people of Ebonyi Central have not experienced any significant positive impact from Senator Eze.

He described as regrettable and unfortunate that a Senator would openly inform stakeholders that he bought exercise books to record the names of vulnerable and less privileged persons in the zone who received N10,000 in financial assistance.

“We, the youths of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, want to unequivocally express our disappointment with Senator Ken Eze’s representation.

“We were embarrassed when he announced before over 40 media houses, both national and local, that he bought two exercise books and instructed his aide, Philip, to record the names of vulnerable and less privileged individuals in the zone who received N10,000 in financial assistance.

“It is highly unacceptable and unfortunate that the rural women who campaigned for him, enduring sun and rain and risking their lives to vote for him even when he was an unpopular candidate, were treated in such a degrading manner.

“The fertilizers he distributed were even less than expected. He shared about 900, while our representatives in the House of Representatives distributed about 1,500. Everything he provides is often in short supply, and even the food distributed was inadequate, leaving some people hungrier than before.

“We are passing a vote of no confidence on the Senator for treating our people with disdain, failing to demonstrate the requisite love and commitment that a representative should show to those he calls his own.”

An Ebonyi politician, who requested anonymity, said, “This show of shame again! I attended just to see things for myself. Although I was invited, I knew who he was. I spent N20,000 on fuel just to witness a long speech that ended with nothing.

“He announced 20 bags of fertilizers for wards with one hundred thousand naira. Each ward has over five hundred participants. What a disgrace! What a disappointment? Thank God for Rt. Hon Chinedu Ogah, who we are pleased with. He wouldn’t behave like this man.

“Senator Ken Eze just invited us to witness the painting of his new mansion built from money made in the National Assembly. This is the second time he has organized such a useless event. Let’s meet again in 2027. May we have reason to endure it and wait until 2027.”

In a quick reaction, the Media Aide to the Senator, Mr Godwin Okafor, said, “Don’t mind those people. After the function, those who attended went home happily, and Oga gave them money. The fertilizers were distributed to all the wards across Ebonyi Central Zone, and money was provided to beneficiaries for transporting their fertilizers. He presented his scorecard, and those in attendance, including stakeholders, were pleased.”
